Day of Immunology 2012 Competition

We invite immunologists worldwide (individual scientists and institutes) to submit their ideas for PR initiatives in combination with the DoI 2012. The main goal of the activities should be to effectively bring “hot topics” in immunology to the public (layperson, media, patient, etc.). The ideal initiative should make immunological expertise more accessible for the general public.

 

The annual Day of Immunology was created to bring awareness of immunology to a large public. Your action can make the difference!

EFIS offers attractive awards for the best initiatives for the DoI 2012. Winners and their concepts will be introduced on the occasion of the 3rd European Congress of Immunology (ECI 2012) in Glasgow.

1st Prize – 2000 € and an invitation to attend ECI 2012 in Glasgow
2nd Prize – 1000 € and an invitation to attend ECI 2012 in Glasgow
3rd Prize – 500 € and an invitation to attend ECI 2012 in Glasgow
4th Prize – an invitation to attend ECI 2012 in Glasgow

Selection Process

Submissions will be selected by a jury composed of members of the EFIS Board. All decisions are final. The jury is exempt from legal liability. If you apply as an institute, you will be asked to send one representative to receive the award.

Deadline for submission is March 1st, 2012.

The following winning projects will be presented during a special Day of Immunology session at the European Congress of Immunology in Glasgow (September 5-8, 2012):

  • 1st Prize: DGF Graduiertenkolleg 1660 for the organization of a public educational event in Erlangen under the title "Immuno-Logic": with poster presentations (especially for lay people), interactive microscope imaging of cell preparations, quizzes and games
  • 2nd Prize: Dutch Society for Immunology for the magazine "Immunologisch" (Immunological) biannually published magazine, 1500 hard copies plus for DoI 2012 free online access / download on: www.dutchsocietyimmunology.nl/research/publications/immunologisch/..
  • 3rd Prize: Hellenic Society for Immunology for their annual PR activities, including public sessions with commendable multi-media coverage,
  • 4th Prize: Isabel Abreu and Cecilia Johansson for an illustrated booklet: The Immune System – The Good Army That Is Fighting Every Day In Children And Adults!!
