The Book

EFIS translated and distributed a book targeting children and lay people for the DoI 2009: “Your amazing Immune System - How it protects your body” from Japanese to English. We have received several requests from immunologists, patient organizations, educational facilities and laypeople worldwide, asking for the book in their own language. To our delight, many immunologists have so far voiced their interest to realize further translations!

The success of the project does indeed depend on active local immunologists, as regards to keeping the high quality of the book as well as its efficient distribution (e.g. via libraries, schools , exhibitions).

The board of EFIS agreed to pay the royalty fees (800 Euros) for further translations to the Japanese proprietor Yodosha, and to offer the Blue-print of the English version for free, as a basis for any new translation.

Anyone interested in translating and publishing the book in further languages has to go through this call to qualify for the EFIS support, and must accept all included terms and conditions that were negotiated between EFIS and Yodosha. To ensure a good quality of translation, each applicant will have to find an adequate translator and must select at least 3 professional immunologists who agree to supervise the translation and to approve the final version.
